first episode critique

WHAT COULD BE BETTER:

  1. Audio balance!! Some things were too quiet!
  2. Jess mentioned "fall events" but didn't provide any dates.
  3. Glitches?

WHAT'S GOOD:

  1. The bloopers on the credits was cute!

notes from meeting with August and Ryan and Mackenzie and Alyssa and Dayana

In lieu of any original ideas, here's what we talked about in class yesterday.

  1. Instead of trying to do anything at all like Hallways of Our Lives, which was completely perfect in every way and is something we shouldn't even try to compete with, we should go in a completely different direction. Ryan suggested a sitcom, and insinuated he and Alex have a lot of ideas for this, but didn't specify. Aug thought we should do an Office-esque look at teachers, but I think it would be better to do an in classroom mockumentary, a set number of kids in the classroom and just one teacher. This is what I would really like to be a part of, if Ryan will let me, because I'm getting the impression that this is His Brainchild.
  2. My brother should have a politics segment! We need a politics segment because most of the class of 2016 will be able to vote in the next national election, and we could contribute to their knowledge of current events. Also my brother is hilarious, you're looking at the next John Stewart practically (don't tell him I said that.) I don't know how these things usually work, but in my mind, August and I and a couple others sit down and throw some jokes together and talk about current events, and also, not just nationally. But we should talk about city politics! The potential upcoming teacher's strike, etc.
  3. We talk a lot about school events, but we should be promoting more city events.
  4. Also things I wrote down and didn't elaborate on so I'm not totally sure what the whole Idea was:
    • Jimmy Kimmel lie-witnesses
    • celebrity impressions (panel) (check August's blog, he elaborates more)
    • investigative reporting
    • senioritis/back to school
    • get sports better
